Our mediators are trained and experienced professionals who have demonstrated success in their fields of expertise. Our mediators have backgrounds in law, mental health, and/or conflict resolution.
SERENA LAU, MSW, JD
Serena Lau is the founder and President of Accord Mediation Group. Ms. Lau received her Masters of Social Work and Juris Doctorate degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Ms. Lau began her career as a Corporate Law Attorney. She has served as in-house counsel for various large corporations in Connecticut, New York, and North Carolina. Her legal expertise is in contract drafting and negotiation with specializations in the pharmaceutical industry, business, consumer issues, real estate, employment, and intellectual property.
Over 20 years ago, Ms. Lau shifted her professional focus to mediation, negotiation, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. She has successfully mediated and negotiated thousands of cases and agreements.
Ms. Lau has served as the Director of Dispute Resolution at the Better Business Bureau in Savannah, Georgia where she developed and implemented the Dispute Resolution Program. She was on staff at the ADR Center, Inc. in Wilmington, North Carolina where she served as a family mediator, Cooperative Parenting instructor, and trainer. Ms. Lau also was a part-time faculty member at the University of North Carolina (Wilmington) where she taught courses in negotiation.
